The Purrfect Day
Every crazy cat lady ought to have her day. And lucky us, that day has arrived. Meow.
Cat Lady Kiera and Cat Man Zach were married a gorgeous summer afternoon in a kitty-infiltrated ceremony at The Washbow in Culver City.
“I loved the perfect cat eye look Beautilitarian was giving me, but knew something was up when someone handed me these gorgeous sequined kitty ears in lieu of a veil. I kind of freaked out. In a good way,” said Kiera. “I met my wedding planner in person only a few times, we mostly planned everything in my pajamas over skype, and it was a dream situation to plan every step of the way with our cats."
As it turned out, her wedding planner also appointed a cat as a personal assistant, beta-testing Happily Wedding’s new planning app. The cat was unavailable for comment at the time of the interview, but did later school us through a series of adorable text messages on how Kitty-officiated weddings ought to be done.
Kiera’s eyes teared up. “It’s just so surreal, knowing that a sweet and adorable cat with her fuzzy little hands and twitchy little tail was helping us plan the best day of my life! It made getting married that much more meaningful.”
Zach held Kiera’s hand, because at this point, she was having difficulty speaking. “In other words, she was really happy with her wedding,” he said. “I don’t know how you guys got those custom-made cake toppers and that confetti – “
“The confetti,” Kiera agreed. “It was Gaga on steroids. And then I saw the itty bitty kitties at the foot of our wedding cakes and then hiding on the shelves, poking out of the sign, I – I can’t, I just can’t!”
In a surprise move, their wedding planner had arranged for the arrival of orphan kitties to attend and bear witness to the happy L.A. ceremony.
“And there were big ones and small ones and a mama one asking us to take it home with us!” Kiera cut in.
Zach said, “Seeing Kiera, freaking out over all those cats and pawing through the kitty-themed stationary – “
“It said ‘FURR-ever.’ ‘Furrever.’ It was freaking romantic is what it was,” said Kiera.
“ – it reminded me of how I fell in love with her,” he said, petting his new wife’s hand. “I really love this woman. And to our wedding planner, I’m just so grateful. There was nothing we wanted more than to have a bunch of cats to come and bless our wedding. It was amazing."
Once she connected with Kiera through email several times, the wedding planner and her assistant Miss Giggles used her early access with Happily's new planning app to create a kitty-themed battle plan.
"It waz so easy. And efficient. Kittehs love efficiency. Except when diztracted by Irrezistible things," Miss Giggles wrote back to us. "The app iz very irrezistible thing. Recommended!!!"
According to the wedding planner, it's important to understand that kittens need their cat naps -- hence, the wedding needs to planned around your feline guests and not the other way around. Since it's an honor to have throngs of kitties celebrating your undying love for your future husband or future wife, apparently it's the least a human can do to show the proper level of respect and appreciation. Finding out when your guests' nap times are ahead of time will ensure that the kitties arrive on time, in good moods and full of playful energy.
About 50 guests with a budget of roughly $25,000.
